False Prophets Edition #40 — 18 Jan 2003 Contestants Dine On Horse Rectum I don't watch a lot of TV anymore. Perhaps the heading of this paragraph might be one of the reasons; a TV guide's description for an episode of Fear Factor. The show celebrates how much abuse people will accept for money or the sake of "winning". Contestants may think it's a challenge, but viewers watch to see them get humiliated, violated. We must like our pain fix and daytime talk shows still exploit people's problems to lure both the voyeuristic vampires who thirst for suffering and the product advertisers who love them. Perhaps our fascination with suffering allows us to advocate more than exploitive television shows. Below is an article begun years ago, updated today. I thought it might be insightful — a little departure from the usual. There no humour in it. Bail if you want to, but I think it's worth reading. False Prophets (by Roland Kriewaldt) Watching the news, one would say these are dangerous times we live in. But perhaps the greatest threat of all, even more ominous and immediate than the threat of pollution, war, disease and domestic violence, is the threat of orchestrated illusions by influencial minds; holograms projected onto the smokescreen of our emotional chaos, ignorance and fear. This new breed of reality TV director manipulates our repulsion for things as they are ìsaid to beî in order to polarize us to act in the opposite extreme. If I called you ìThe Great Satanî then one would assume everything I did to combat you would be ìholyî and sanctioned by God. Look around, everybodyís using that kind of marketing. Iraq AND the United States. All are one and the same — there are no truly good guys. If I were intending to build an underground city using the energy of the masses Iíd simply create a campaign of panic or terror about living above ground. How often do we hear authorities in the scientific community enciting us to act against the threats of anything from comet impacts to ice ages, ozone depletion and a nuclear holocaust? Many such threats may be real and worthy of serious consideration, but many media events are also just intentional lies. The danger is when no threat exists but merely an objective to mobilize a large number of people to one extreme of thinking. To fight a war based on false information, or to incite the killing of other races and cultures through the deliberate use of lies and propoganda is unthinkable, or? Enter the false prophets. The bottom line of real spiritual freedom is that no one should have to be forced to become someone else in order to wear the team colours of humanity. We all belong here, no matter who we are and what we believe - or how difficult we may be to get along with. Everyone has the right to live on this Earth as long as they abide by the simple doctrine of LOVE YOURSELF FIRST AND FOREMOST — DON'T KILL ANYBODY. Thus, once the basic rules of the game are applied, namely treat others as you would be treated yourself, then you wonít have suicidal people who hate themselves treating others with the same disregard that they have for themselves. And if you donít know how to love yourself yet, then you shouldnít be endorsed and supported by others to go around extorting self-esteem from the downfall and humiliation of others. But Hitler was endorsed and so were all of history's better known psychotics. But where are we headed with the likes of them at the wheel? They always fill the void when weíre short on solutions and long on anger, frustration and intolerance. We presently live in a time of very clinical, efficient, scientifically-sound insanity. Todayís unhappy person is given happy pills — not a solution, nor a hint as to his alternatives. Real solutions, I suspect, may be bad for the economy, just as the truth is to a politician's longevty. What would Al Gore have done in Afghanistan? Moreover, has George Bushís campaign of violence ìfreedî the minds of people from centuries of tradition and habitual patriarchal oppression? If people donít have flush toilets there, then chances are that they wonít have access to this article, or anything other than what has always been, which is poverty, subsistance living, and the rhetoric of their political leaders calling the other side ìThe Great Satanî while making plans for their next murderous rebuttal in the name of God. Some illusions exist only because they have scientific or rational theories to back them up. But theories arenít proof. That's where propoganda, bullying and media brainwashing pick up the slack. Who cares why weíre going to hell as long as weíre agreed on going there together! We must pay attention; see through the smoke, past the projection screens, and through the lies and deceptions. Itís not an easy time for us. But it is definitely historical. Our future selves will be discussing this turning point in earth history. If we are truly leaders, as most ìfirst worldî countries see themselves, then what is our example to the world? If we would view developing nations as our children, then what are we, as parents, teaching them about adult behaviour? Tolerance? Consideration? Mercy? Democracy? Human Rights? And what are we expecting in return from the behaviour of our children if they mirror the lessons of their teachers? Should a bald person go around calling others baldy? It would seem rather delusional and hypocritical, wouldnít it? We cannot forget that it was a free society — the United States — where home-boy terrorist Timothy McVie was born and raised; the first terrorist to successfully fell a large building in the U.S. in the name of his own God, Anger. He, as an American, saw his own nationís leaders as The Great Satan. Delusional or not, it happened only recently. How soon we forget — or how quickly we are distracted away from important questions begging to be asked, like Where did THAT war on terrorism go? What was the cause? What is the solution? They killed McVie, too. Now we're travelling abroad to look for political disobedience in foreign lands. Or are we? Who are we, this self-appointed guardian of Godís will? And is our real Godís name not ECONOMY, or FEAR? Reasoning is only a vehicle, not a destination. Destinations come from our hearts. Heart describes the region of our anatomy where we feel truth the most, namely in our stomach or gut. Thatís where we feel everything; thatís where right and wrong exists beyond the ability of misguided thoughts to distort them. If it is wrong to kill — in light of the fact that all sides invoke God to side with them — then how especially wrong is it to travel abroad to kill your neighbour? Are we not then the next terrorist attacking? What are we teaching each other? And what do we expect in return? Someone has to break the cycle. Who will it be? The parent, or the child? If I were your most feared enemy — would you use me as your excuse, your alibi to resist a change of heart? Or evolution? I would hope not. Someday I might need your mercy, and not just your hamburger chains, cigarettes and movie stars. Roland Kriewaldt Subscribe to free newsletter
