Nothing Before Its Time!

Edition #149 — November 10, 2011 (or close to it.)

I have a personal rule in that I will not create unless I am inspired. For me, this makes the difference between a song and a sensation in that I want to FEEL what I am doing rather than be asleep for it, as I might otherwise be for a mechanical chore like doing dishes. Luckily I rarely have to break this rule when others offer me work because their own vision or goal inspires me to explore and learn about some unfamiliar aspect of life, whether dog training, transportation logistics, or heated indoor storage facilities. My hunger to create has also been a source of inner conflict at times because I am often tempted to begin work on someone's project before they make a commitment by paying their deposit. This has at times left me holding artwork or part of a website that the customer was never serious about having made. Yet these have often become the creative fodder for future projects when someone needs work done and I happen to have stage one already completed, but for a change of name or logo.

There is an irony to this confession because I refused to put out this month's newsletter on time because I was not inspired to write about anything until today, when inspiration itself was my inspiration. I have also been pouring out highly inspired work for the chapters in my book, so I did not actually feel any kind of creative void or "writer's block" but simply an aversion to putting out a song when I was waiting for a sensation. :)

This brings to mind all of the work being done around the world each day that instead of being inspired, is simply a mechanical act for the purpose of making money. It is why we have discount stores filled with garbage that breaks on the way home because it was no one's intention to make something great or excellent but simply something that sells.

We have now come to the end of this newsletter because I don't want you to think about anything else but that last paragraph.

See you next month, inspiration willing. :)
Roland Kriewaldt.
